A team of AME divers conducted a three-week expedition to Pohnpei, in the Federated States of Micronesia. This was a follow-up expedition to the Pohnpei 2014 Expedition, with an emphasis on Gorgonian corals and exploration of nearby Pakin and Ant Atolls. During this project, we conducted a series of deep rebreather dives to a maximum depth of 150 meters (500 feet), and collected hundreds of specimens of fishes and gorgonian corals, many of which are new to science. This project is one of several aimed at documenting coral-reef ecosystems at depths of about 50-150 meters (165-500 feet) throughout the tropical Indo-Pacific. Our primary objectives on this expedition were to conduct some follow-up deep exploratory dives to Ant Atoll, and also make our first visit to Pakin Atoll.
