AME Chief Science Offier Dr. Sonia Rowley was in London to be honored as a recipeint of the Sir David Attenborough Award for Field Research! She accepted the Award on May 24th at the headquarters of the Linnean Society of London, at their annual Anniversary meeting. Sonia’s work was selected based on the report on her project, entitled ‘Exploration and Systematics of Twilight Reef Gorgonian Corals at Pakin Atoll’.
While in London, also gave a presentation on her work on Gorgonian corals living on deep coral reefs at the Natural History Museum. Her work was spotlighted by the British Sub Aqua Club (BSAC), for which Sonia’s father Mike Rowley serves as the BSAC Technical group leader, and also on the Scubaverse and Deeper Blue websites
